Position overview
Drummond Carpenter is seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer to support the design and delivery of commercial facility projects, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and IT systems. This role is well suited for an engineer with experience in power distribution, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, who can manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, and contractors.
The successful candidate will utilize AGI, Bluebeam Studio, Revit, Excel, SpecLink, and other design tools to support project execution and quality assurance throughout all phases of design while ensuring compliance with applicable industry codes and standards.

Key responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Collaborate with project team members, clients, contractors, and technical experts on project-related matters.
- Utilize tools such as Bluebeam Studio, Excel, MasterSpec, and MS Word for effective communication and documentation.
- Ensure quality assurance throughout all phases of the project.
- Manage projects from preliminary engineering to final design, construction documents, and field inspection.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- PE license in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and/or Tennessee.
- 2–10+ years of experience in electrical design for commercial buildings, including lighting, power, fire alarm, and IT systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with AGI, EasyPower, or SKM preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel for local and regional projects.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment plants and pump stations
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit
Work environment and travel
- Hybrid work arrangement based out of one of Drummond Carpenter’s Florida, Michigan, or Tennessee offices, with a remote work arrangement available
- Periodic fieldwork and limited overnight travel based on project needs
