Drummond Carpenter is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems across a diverse range of projects. This role is well suited for an engineer who can collaborate with internal and external project team members, clients, contractors, and other technical experts to develop effective design solutions.
The successful candidate will utilize Revit, CADD, and other design software to support coordinated, high-quality project delivery while gaining opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

Key responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Engage in daily communication with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary team members to address project needs.
- Design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for a variety of commercial, educational, and institutional facilities, emphasizing energy efficiency and sustainability.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, and technicians from initial design phases to final construction documentation and field inspections.
- Research and apply relevant codes, LEED principles, and best practices to designs.
- Balance multiple project priorities and deadlines with precision and organization.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and scheduling and demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit for project design and Bluebeam for team communication.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- 2–10 years of experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook, for effective calendaring and communication
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse personalities
- Creative problem-solving abilities and the capability to work independently and within a team structure
- Highly organized, adaptable, and self-sufficient, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel for local and regional projects as needed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Work environment and travel
- Hybrid work arrangement based out of one of Drummond Carpenter’s Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, or Tennessee offices, with a remote work arrangement available
- Periodic fieldwork and limited overnight travel based on project needs
